One person on

both
may complete this form.
At least seven days’ notice is
required before the first
reading of banns. Banns have
to be read on three
consecutive Sundays before
the marriage.
If either of you will not be 18
years old by the proposed
date of your wedding, the
consent of your parents or
guardians will need to be
obtained.
The Church’s official rules do
not permit the marriage in
church of anyone who has
been divorced from a husband
or wife who is still alive,
without the consent of the
Diocesan Bishop. If you are in
this position, you should
consult your local
clergyperson as soon as
possible to discuss your
options and, where possible,
to begin the process with the
Bishop.
Your parish church is the
Church of England parish in
which you live. If you are
unsure which parish you live
in you can use the website
www.achurchnearyou.com to
look up your postcode and
check.
If either of you (or both of you)
lives in a different parish from
that in which the marriage is to
take place, you have to
arrange for the Banns of
Marriage to be read and
obtain a Banns certificate from
that parish as well.
