u Materials:
• Blank game boards
• Markers
2 colors of game chips (small pieces of paper can be used for this.)
u Directions:
This game can be used for any type of equations.
Have each student create 6–10 equations. Pass the blank game boards around the
room, starting each in a different place. Have students use markers to write one of
their equations on a game board, pass the boards and continue until all boards have all
spaces  lled.
Students play in pairs. Each pair needs 1 game board and each student needs 5 chips.
Students need different color chips than their partner.
One partner selects an equation to solve. If the equation is solved correctly, the student
covers the square with a chip. If the equation is solved incorrectly, the student does
not cover the square with a chip. Students continue taking turns until a winner is found.
Then each pair exchanges games and plays another round.
u Who Wins?
The  rst student in each pair that gets three in a row, vertically, horizontally or diagonally
wins the game. Continue to play for a set amount of time or until one student gets three
points.
u Tips:
Slip each game board into a plastic sheet protector if they are available. Game boards
will last longer.
• Students can use algebra tiles to cover the squares.
The game can be played with multiple types of equations to review for quarter or
semester exams.
