Required Core Courses
The following 16 core courses are required if you wish to receive a Certificate in Botanical Art
and Illustration. Classes should be taken in the order determined by their prerequisites.
All requirements should be completed within five years to receive your certificate.
Please note: To receive credit for any course, attendance is required at the first class and at 80
percent of the course. Completion of a final project is generally due 1 week after the class ends.

Elective Courses
In addition to the 16 required core courses, students must select no fewer than 100 elective
hours; it is strongly recommended that students take relevant elective courses simultaneously
with the required curriculum. Botanical Illustration electives are eligible for credit; Art Exploration

Science and Art Lectures
Intersections and Food for Thought lectures at Denver Botanic Gardens qualify for elective
credits. Attendance at one lecture gives one elective credit hour; students can receive a
maximum of 15 credit hours from these lectures. Pre-registration is required to receive credit.
