The classroom instruction is 32 hours, two hours per day. Students may not receive more than four
hours of instruction per day (ex. two hours of classroom, two hours in the car.) Students may miss
up to five days; all days must be made up before the class ends.
After receiving the permit from the DPS, the student may sign up and schedule drive times via an
online program - www.schedule2drive.com (a one-time $10 fee is payable to Schedule 2 Drive (S2D)
for the use of this website.) Create a new account using your students permit number and our
school ID number (C2518.) Scheduling may be done online at any time. You cannot schedule a
drive until a $10 payment has been made to S2D. Parents may also use S2D to log their drive time
of 20 hours during the day and 10 hours at night (30 hours total your child should drive 100 hours
prior to receiving the final license.) You will need this form with you when the final driver test is
completed with the DPS. The form may also be obtained from the DPS website.
Please use the S2D instructions to help guide you through your child’s driving process. It is a
valuable tool for you and your child. You may CHECK requests in S2D account for you to receive
notices when openings become available; YOU must unmark these when you no longer wish to
receive these; they do not come from our school. S2D is YOUR account.
Students will receive a daily grade. There are SIX main grades:
1. Study questions answered from the Texas DPS Handbook
2. Permit test (given after first eight hours of class are taken OUTSIDE of class time)
3. Driving Safety test
4. My DWI Story (two-page essay)
5. My Driving Plan (a formal two-page essay using important lessons from classes)
6. Final quiz is comprehensive and given on day 15 to assure student is aware of road rules.
A legal guardian must accompany students to the DPS. Students must have the following with them at
the DPS to obtain the permit:
1. Certified birth certificate
2. Social security card (or receipt from new SS order receipt)
3. VOE or Verification of Enrollment” from school attendance office with GRADES and
attendance (please obtain this before school is out for the summer or holiday.)
During the summer, the report card with attendance may be used. VOE is valid for 30 days.
4. DE-964 DPS copy provided from FIRST CLASS DRIVING SCHOOL
5. Parent needs TWO copies of proof of Texas residency in THEIR name dated within 90 days

Helpful Information:
NEW RULE: The IMPACT Texas Teen Driver (ITTD) Program developed by DPS with the goal of saving
lives on our Teas roadways through awareness and education requires students to view a two-hour
informational video developed to help educate young or new drivers in an effort to reduce risk of
being involved in automobile crashes, particularly those caused by distracted driving. Effective April
1, 2015, completion of ITTD will be required for all individuals that have received a DE-964 and have
taken a teen driver-ed course. The ITTD Certificate of Completion must be presented before taking a
drive skills test at the DPS or Third Party Tester. The ITTD Certificate must be dated within 90 days
of the drive skills exam. The video may be viewed at: https://impacttexasteendrivers.dps.texas.gov
For questions, please contact the DPS Driver Education section at TPSTPROGRAM@DPS.TEXAS.GOV
A video on Youtube entitled “Top 10 Reasons Most People Fail the DPS Test” will greatly
assist students and parents with rules of the road as well as the DPS final drive.
http://www.nhtsa.gov/drivereducationprogram is a great website with useful information from the
National Highway Traffic Safety Association.
www.Schedule2Drive.com You must know your child’s permit number (license number) and our
school number, C2518. It is a one-time fee of $10. You must log 20 hours of parent drive time. This
website has a form and instructions for YOU!
Any student may schedule the final driving test with us ($80) or with the DPS of your choice. Most
DPS test appointments are filled a month or two out. I recommend the first or second slot morning
or early afternoon with DPS office.

Everyone is encouraged to attend our Driving Safety class for further insurance discounts. The $30
fee is waived for our students and their family members. Students under 25 must take this class for
any moving violation they receive and it is a good idea to keep those off your record. Students who
receive TRAFFIC CITATIONS may be requested by the DPS to RETAKE the DPS DRIVING SKILLS
ROAD TEST. Please encourage safe driving and remember you are a great example of proper driving
habits to your students! Please show them the correct way to drive; if you feel you need to brush up,
please plan to attend our 9 am-3 pm Saturday class to review (no charge!)
The DPS should review the Graduated Driving Laws with you when your child receives the DL. There
are curfews and limits on number of passengers allowed in the car as well as a “no electronics” rule.
We are here to assist you and help your student be the safest driver he can be. Please feel free to
email or call! We look forward to working with you and your student in this very important stepping
stone to adulthood.
