Install and Record with Screencast-O-Matic
for PC
1. Open Screencast-O-Matic in your Firefox web browser.

2. Click the “Start Recording” button.
3. In theFrequently Asked Questions” section click the “Download the full app install” link.
4. In the Opening Install” window, click “Save File”.
5. Click the download folder icon at the top of the browser and select the “InstallScreencastOMatic”
application to begin the installation.

6. Click “Yes” in the User Account Control” pop-up and then select “Next” in the Setup Wizard window.
7. On the next screen of the wizard click “Install”.
8. When the wizard finishes running click “Finish” to complete the installation. Screencast-O-Matic will
automatically launch.

9. Select the “FREE Recorder” button.
10. In the Record menu select the “Webcam” button at the top.
11. If you do not see your camera image in the window behind the Record menu, click the “Webcam”
menu arrow and select a connected webcam.

12. Click the menu arrow on the size tab and select 640 x 480.
13. On the “Narration” tab make sure the green bars flash when you talk.
14. If the green bars are not flashing, click the menu arrow to select a mic and to set the recording
volume.
15. Click the “Close” button at the top of the Record menu.

16. Click the red “Rec” button at the bottom of the webcam window to start the recording countdown.
When the countdown reaches “GO”, the recording will automatically begin.
17. To stop or pause the recording click the “Pause” button.
18. Use the following features to control your recording.
Click the “Rec” button to continue recording where you left off.
Click the “Play” button to preview your recording.
Click the “Delete” button to delete your recording and start over.
Click the “Done” button to save your recording.
19. In the “Screencast-O-Matic window that opens use the trim buttons at the front and end of the
timeline to adjust the start and end point of your recording. Left click, hold and drag the button to trim
the recording.
20. In the “Options” menu click “Save As Video File”.

21. In the “Video File” menu leave the publishing options set to their defaults or click a tab to see
additional options. Click the “Publish” button to save your recording directly to computer’s desktop.
NOTE: Click the “Filename” tab to give your recording a new
name and click the “Folder” tab to designate a new save
location on your computer.
22. Once the recording has finished processing click the “Done” button to exit.
