Import Permit for Pets (Cats/Dogs)

Terms &Conditions

1. Import permit prior to enter, issued through the MOEW web site (validity of permit is 30

days. It is not allowed to import pets with an expired import permit).

2. Pet has to be shipped in manifested cargo as per IATA regulations, Check the IATA

conditions for carrying pets( http://www.iata.org) .

3. The following breeds of dogs are prohibited to be imported into UAE

1) All Kinds Pit Bull,

2) Japanese Tosa (TosaInu; Tosa Fighting Dog),

3) Argentinian Fighting Dog (DogoArgentino; Argentinian Mastiff),

4) Brazilian Fighting Dog (Fila Brasileino; Brazilian Mastiff),

5) Wolf Dog Hybrid ( Any dog mixed with a wolf),

6) American Staffordshire terrier.

Documents Required upon arrival at port of entry / UAE

1. Original Vaccination card or animal passport includes pet microchip, date of birth,

validity of treatments, Rabies vaccination and other vaccinations records (dates,

manufacturer, batch No. ,vacc. stickers…etc.), see (list A and B) .

2. Valid original official health certificate from the exporting country illustrates pet

identification Microchip and that the animal has been examined and show satisfactory

health symptoms.

3. Original Certificate for Rabies Serum Neutralization test (RSNT) conducted within the

90 days prior to travel attesting a minimum titer of 0.5IU/ml or above ,

this certificate is not required from the listed countries below :

Australia, Austria, Andorra, Aruba, Barbados, Bahrain, Belgium, Comoros,

Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, French Polynesia,

Falkland Island, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Japan,

Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Malta, New Caledonia, New

Zealand, Portugal, Qatar, Singapore, San Marino, Seychelles, Sweden,

Switzerland, UK, Vanuatu

Service Fees

 Import permit fees of 500 Dhs for one pet (cat or dog),

 Inspection fees of 500 Dhs for each cat upon entry,

 Inspection fees of 1000 Dhs for each dog upon entry,

Payment should be paid by E-Dirham, MASTER or VISA card.

List A – Required Vaccinations for Dogs and Cats

Vaccinations for Dogs

1) Rabies, a valid vaccination applied according to instruction of vaccine manufacturer,

initial dose should not be applied before 3 month of animal age and a 21 days must be

elapse before arriving into UAE.

2) Canine Distemper Virus (CDV)

3) Canine Parvo Virus

4) Infectious Canine Hepatitis.

5) Leptospirosis (Ictohaemorragea – Canicola)

Vaccinations for Cats

1) Rabies, a valid vaccination applied according to instruction of vaccine manufacturer,

initial dose should not be applied before 3 month of animal age and a 21 days must be

elapse before arriving into UAE.

2) Feline Pan Leukcopenia.

3) Feline Rhinotracheitis.

4) Feline Calicivirus

List B – Required Treatments for Dogs and Cats

within 10 days pre-shipping

1) Anti-external parasites using (Fipronil or Permethrin).

2) Deworming (Anthelmintic) using (Praziquantel).

Important Notice

For noncompliance of import requirements there will be:

 A fine of (5000 Dhs) each animal.

 Pet will be rejected (on its owner expenses) or confiscated
