There are opportunities for those who have recovered from COVID-19 to donate their plasma
to be used in the treatment of hospitalized patients. Convalescent plasma is currently being
used for COVID-19 patients with severe or immediately life-threatening infections. Participants
can collaborate with the American Red Cross (ARC) or BioLife Plasma Services.
The ARC plasma donation center is located at 3510 Executive Parkway, Toledo. For more
information please call 800.733.2767.
BioLife Plasma Services is also accepting donations at 4299 Elida Road, Lima. For more
information please call 419.224.0117.
Both ARC and BioLife Plasma Services require patients to bring their COVID-19 results and
complete an onsite two-hour physical exam.
Plasma donors must be at least 17 years old and weigh 110 pounds. Additional weight
requirements apply for donors 18 years of age or younger. The donor must also be in good
health and feel generally well, even if they are currently being treated for a chronic condition.
Patients must have a prior, verified diagnosis of COVID-19 but are now symptom-free and fully
recovered.
To help meet the growing need for this product to treat COVID-19 patients, eligible individuals
can donate their convalescent plasma every seven days for up to three months.
